Frequently asked questions about Reiki

What can I expect to feel during a Reiki treatment?
What one experiences during a Reiki treatment varies somewhat from person to person. However, feelings of deep relaxation are usually felt by all. In addition, many feel a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and surrounds them. As the Reiki energy encourages one to let go of all tension, anxiety, fear or other negative feelings a state of peace and well-being is experienced. Some drift off to sleep. At the end of the treatment, one feels refreshed with a more positive, balanced outlook.

How long does a Reiki treatment last?
Most Reiki Treatments last an hour.

How many Reiki treatments do people require?
It is recommended for people with chronic conditions, four consecutive treatments or as close as possible together. Then it is recommended to have weekly treatments for about four to six weeks. This builds up the energy in the system. The treatments can then be reviewed accordingly. However when a person receives Reiki and reviews with the Reiki Practitioner your many want to receive Reiki more or less than this. Each person is different.
For people with an acute condition they may notice lasting improvements after only one or two treatments. Again, no two cases are the same.

What can Reiki cure?
Reiki is reported to have helped a broad range of conditions from skin conditions to cancer. Reiki is a healing therapy which means it is bringing your body back to a place of balance and harmony. With a balanced energy system, you will have more vital energy available to be used as your body needs. Healing is a process. Reiki has done a lot for people's health. Reiki Practitioners can never claim to cure as Reiki works with everyone individually.

Can I have Reiki if I am on medication?
Yes, you may. Reiki is being used in many hospitals world wide along side conventional therapies.

Is there any removal of clothing during Reiki treatments?
There is no need for any removal of clothing during treatments. You generally will be asked to remove your shoes. You can loosen a top button on a shirt or loosen a belt to make yourself more comfortable. However, even this is not necessary.

Why does my Reiki practitioner ask me to remove my jewelry before Reiki?
Metal is a conductor of energy.

Do I have to believe in Reiki in order for it to work?
No. Reiki works even if you don't believe in it. Reiki works on unconscious patients, people in comas, babies and animals. They have no conscious awareness about Reiki. The acceptance of the Reiki energy during a Reiki treatment operates below conscious thought. It is the subconscious desires of the person in receipt of the Reiki energy that will determine whether the energy is taken in or not.

Is Reiki a religion?
No, it is not. People of all religious persuasions and belief systems practice this healing art. Reiki has some of its roots in Japan, but it is not tied to Buddhism.
Reiki helps people to connect with their inner self on a deep level. In this way it is spiritual.

Can anyone learn how to do Reiki for themselves?
Yes.

What does the title Reiki Master mean?
This title was adopted in the west for people who had been attuned to Reiki Master Level of Training. It was not a title that was originally used in Japan for Reiki teachers.
In the east this title was reserved for those who had mastered the human within themselves. Such people can raise their frequency at will and create the miraculous in all aspects of their lives.
